When hiring a company to solve your wild animal problem, you want these features:

  • Specializes in wildlife removal, not pest control
  • Fully Pennsylvania and Lancaster County licensed and insured
  • Works 7 days per week (critters don't take weekends off)
  • Performs full building inspections: enters and inspects attic
  • Performs exclusion repairs, with guarantee against animal re-entry
  • Offers cleanup of biohazardous wildlife waste

  • Xceptional Wildlife Removal is a full-service Lancaster wildlife removal company. This is very different from a regular Lancaster pest control company. The pest control companies spray poison to kill insects. This is not at all similar to wildlife removal. Xceptional Wildlife Removal performs a full inspection of the home or property, and determines why the animal(s) are there, and if inside a building, how the animals got inside. All animals (including rodents) are trapped and removed, or if possible, removed from the building using special exclusion devices. Once the animals are gone, preventative repairs are essential, and cleanup is sometimes recommended.

Lancaster wildlife trapping - it's not as simple as it may seem. It's illegal in Pennsylvania to trap without a license. Trap type is very important and there are many different types, bait is somewhat relevant, trap placement is vital, and there are dozens of small things that are very important to know. Safety is a concern. Then once the animal is trapped, it must be removed and dealt with in the proper manner according to Pennsylvania law. We offer Lancaster raccoon removal. Read more about how to get rid of raccoons.

Animals in attics - this is our specialty at Xceptional Wildlife Removal. Many types of animals like to live in attics. This includes squirrels, raccoons, rats, mice, bats, birds, and even possums. Critters like to go into attics for a safe place to live and raise their young. Removing animals from attics is very complex work, partly because of the presence of baby animals. If you need Lancaster squirrel removal, we can remove all the squirrels from your attic, and seal out any future ones. Read more about how to get rid of squirrels.

Rodent control must be done in a very specific way. First off, the most important thing is that all the openings that rats and mice can use to enter a house be sealed. Then all the rodents must be physically trapped and removed. Never, ever use poison! Most Lancaster exterminators will just use this lazy poison technique to kill rodents, and it causes more harm than good - dead stinky rats, and it doesn't solve the problem. Call us for correct Lancaster rat removal. Read more about how to get rid of rats.

Bat removal is a highly specialized task. Pennsylvania is known to have colonizing bats who often live in buildings. Bats love attics. If not removed, the colony can grow to a very large size over the years. The bat droppings are often corrosive and cause health risks. The same goes for bird droppings on or in buildings. We perform Lancaster pigeon removal and bird control. But our specialty is Lancaster bat removal. We remove 100% of the bat colony and seal the building so that it's totally bat-proof. Read more about how to get rid of bats.

If you have animals inside a house, no job is complete without proper exclusion repairs. If you simply hire a Lancaster trapper who only removes the critters, then the problem will return. You need to hire a Lancaster wildlife control company that identifies 100% of the animal entry points into your building, and seals them shut with professional repairs. In addition, in many cases animals have left waste or contamination behind, and you'll want a company that can provide professional cleaning services. Xceptional Wildlife Removal does both.

The above are just some of the services offered by Xceptional Wildlife Removal. We also trap and remove animals that destroy lawns, such as moles, or digging animals. Sometimes animals like opossums will live under buildings, steal pet food, raid garbage cans, etc. Read about how to get rid of opossums. Skunks commonly live under sheds or decks, and set up a den. We can trap and remove them without them spraying. Read about how to get rid of skunks. Xceptional Wildlife Removal also provides dead animal removal in Lancaster. If you need help with any other wildlife conflict, from a fox, beaver, groundhog, or any other critter, we can solve it. We also do Lancaster snake removal - most of the snakes in Pennsylvania are not venomous, but call us if you want safe removal, or read about how to get rid of snakes in Lancaster. And remember, we are a private business, not Lancaster County Animal Control Services, so if you have a dog or cat problem, call the County at (717) 393-6551. Lancaster County animal services does not handle any wildlife issues.

    Lancaster Wildlife Tip #1:
Raccoon on roof - A racoon on the roof is one of the most common issues homeowners have aside from the issue of rodent infestations. Raccoons can climb almost anything, and it's not difficult for them to scale the side of a home and make their way on top of the roof. There isn't much harm in having a raccoon up there as long as you make sure no damaged areas exist where the critter can get inside. One secondary concern about raccoons on a roof is that any urine eliminated on the shingles has the potential to seep down and drip off the side of the building. Racoons can carry leptospirosis, a potentially life-threatening infection that destroys the kidneys. If this bacterium gets on a wood pile or object that is then carried inside the home, children, pets, and other adults could possibly be at risk. The best thing you can do is keep a good eye on the upper aspect of your home. If you're diligent, the raccoon will not get inside and will eventually lose interest. Make sure there are no food sources up on the shingles, especially fruit fallen from nearby trees.

    Lancaster Wildlife Tip #2:
Pregnant skunks in my house - It's always a difficult scenario when you're face with a pregnant skunk in the house. This critter has found your yard and a hole somewhere in your foundation or under your patio and has decided it would be a great location to raise a litter. This isn't uncommon; there are many wild animals that move into human homes to have their babies. The question is: How do you remove the skunk when its babies are hidden somewhere under your porch or building? When it comes to mother animals, professional intervention is always recommended. A mother skunk will be more inclined to protect and defend her territory than would a female skunk without babies. While you can still go about trapping the mother in the same manner, you need to be prepared for her to be more combative than if she were alone. A professional will come, trap the mother, and then do what is necessary to remove the babies. This often involves crawling under the building or using a tiny camera on a long pole to find the infants. Ideally, mother and babies are then relocated at the same time to a safe location.

    Pennsylvania Wildlife Information:

    Pennsylvania State bird: Ruffed grouse
    State mammal: White-tailed deer
tate insect: 7-spotted ladybug, Pennsylvania firefly
    State fish: Brook trout

You can find a variety of landscapes in Pennsylvania, though the majority of the state is covered in forest. Pennsylvania has a fair amount of flat land and a fair amount of mountainous land. No matter where you go, you are bound to run into wildlife. Warm-loving animals will not be so inclined to live in this state, though the southern region has more mild temperatures than the mountainous north. Because of the slight temperature difference, snakes and amphibians are more populous in the south. Rattlesnakes, one of the venomous snakes in the state, are only found in the lower aspect of Pennsylvania. Smaller snakes, like the garter snake, make their home just about anywhere they can find.

Reptiles aren't the only critters that like Pennsylvania. The state has hundreds of sheltered ponds and lakes, and this promotes a healthy population of beavers, otters, and muskrats. Other semi-aquatic animals include the snapping turtle and the common water snake.

Of predators, Pennsylvania has only two large mammalian carnivores. The black bear and coyote are at the top of the food chain in this state, though there have been numerous sightings of mountain lions over the last decade. The state's Department of Fish and Game adamantly dismisses the rumors, and has been able to disprove most of the sightings. Still, many residents feel there is a breeding population of the large cats somewhere in the state. Black bear, though destructive when they find a bird feeder or an open garbage can, are not seen as commonly as coyotes. There has been a large increase in the coyote population; likely due to almost no predation and ample supply of white-tailed deer and other small game. Because of the abundance of wildlife, coyotes are usually only problematic if they are in an urban area. In this setting, the canines can become bold and dangerous, threatening house pets and small children.

Still, the most popular home invaders in Pennsylvania are of a much smaller size. Raccoons and squirrels are always on the hunt for an empty attic, and rats and mice will take any opportunity to sneak into a home. Woodchucks are just as common and irritating; the stout creatures quickly moving in under unprotected decks and patios.

If homeowners are really unlucky, they will forget to secure their pet door at night and will wake up to find a porcupine has entered the house looking for cat food.
