Raccoon on roof - A racoon on the roof is one of the most common issues homeowners have aside from the issue of rodent infestations. Raccoons can climb almost anything, and it's not difficult for them to scale the side of a home and make their way on top of the roof. There isn't much harm in having a raccoon up there as long as you make sure no damaged areas exist where the critter can get inside. One secondary concern about raccoons on a roof is that any urine eliminated on the shingles has the potential to seep down and drip off the side of the building. Racoons can carry leptospirosis, a potentially life-threatening infection that destroys the kidneys. This isn't uncommon; there are many wild animals that move into human homes to have their babies. The question is: How do you remove the skunk when its babies are hidden somewhere under your porch or building? When it comes to mother animals, professional intervention is always recommended. A mother skunk will be more inclined to protect and defend her territory than would a female skunk without babies. While you can still go about trapping the mother in the same manner, you need to be prepared for her to be more combative than if she were alone.
