Vermont also has a documented problem with bats in buildings, and Eco Haven Pest Control is specially trained in bat removal. They also perform general wildlife trapping services, such as the capture and removal of skunks or opossums on the property. When hiring a company to solve your wild animal problem, you want these features:

  • Specializes in wildlife removal, not pest control
  • Fully Vermont and Rutland County licensed and insured
  • Works 7 days per week (critters don't take weekends off)
  • Performs full building inspections: enters and inspects attic
  • Performs exclusion repairs, with guarantee against animal re-entry
  • Offers cleanup of biohazardous wildlife waste

  • Eco Haven Pest Control is a full-service Rutland wildlife removal company. This is very different from a regular Rutland pest control company. The pest control companies spray poison to kill insects. This is not at all similar to wildlife removal. Eco Haven Pest Control performs a full inspection of the home or property, and determines why the animal(s) are there, and if inside a building, how the animals got inside. All animals (including rodents) are trapped and removed, or if possible, removed from the building using special exclusion devices. Once the animals are gone, preventative repairs are essential, and cleanup is sometimes recommended.

Rutland wildlife trapping - it's not as simple as it may seem. It's illegal in Vermont to trap without a license. Trap type is very important and there are many different types, bait is somewhat relevant, trap placement is vital, and there are dozens of small things that are very important to know. Safety is a concern. Then once the animal is trapped, it must be removed and dealt with in the proper manner according to Vermont law. We offer Rutland raccoon removal. Read more about how to get rid of raccoons.

Animals in attics - this is our specialty at Eco Haven Pest Control. Many types of animals like to live in attics. This includes squirrels, raccoons, rats, mice, bats, birds, and even possums. Critters like to go into attics for a safe place to live and raise their young. Removing animals from attics is very complex work, partly because of the presence of baby animals. If you need Rutland squirrel removal, we can remove all the squirrels from your attic, and seal out any future ones. Read more about how to get rid of squirrels.

Rodent control must be done in a very specific way. First off, the most important thing is that all the openings that rats and mice can use to enter a house be sealed. Then all the rodents must be physically trapped and removed. Never, ever use poison! Most Rutland exterminators will just use this lazy poison technique to kill rodents, and it causes more harm than good - dead stinky rats, and it doesn't solve the problem. Call us for correct Rutland rat removal. Read more about how to get rid of rats.

Bat removal is a highly specialized task. Vermont is known to have colonizing bats who often live in buildings. Bats love attics. If not removed, the colony can grow to a very large size over the years. The bat droppings are often corrosive and cause health risks. The same goes for bird droppings on or in buildings. We perform Rutland pigeon removal and bird control. But our specialty is Rutland bat removal. We remove 100% of the bat colony and seal the building so that it's totally bat-proof. Read more about how to get rid of bats.

If you have animals inside a house, no job is complete without proper exclusion repairs. If you simply hire a Rutland trapper who only removes the critters, then the problem will return. You need to hire a Rutland wildlife control company that identifies 100% of the animal entry points into your building, and seals them shut with professional repairs. In addition, in many cases animals have left waste or contamination behind, and you'll want a company that can provide professional cleaning services. Eco Haven Pest Control does both.

The above are just some of the services offered by Eco Haven Pest Control. We also trap and remove animals that destroy lawns, such as moles, or digging animals. Sometimes animals like opossums will live under buildings, steal pet food, raid garbage cans, etc. Read about how to get rid of opossums. Skunks commonly live under sheds or decks, and set up a den. We can trap and remove them without them spraying. Read about how to get rid of skunks. Eco Haven Pest Control also provides dead animal removal in Rutland. If you need help with any other wildlife conflict, from a fox, beaver, groundhog, or any other critter, we can solve it. We also do Rutland snake removal - most of the snakes in Vermont are not venomous, but call us if you want safe removal, or read about how to get rid of snakes in Rutland. And remember, we are a private business, not Rutland County Animal Control Services, so if you have a dog or cat problem, call the County at 802-773-1816. Rutland County animal services does not handle any wildlife issues.

    Rutland Wildlife Tip #1:

Are There Humane Ways to Kill the Squirrels in the Cage?

Rather than relocating the squirrel to an unfamiliar environment, most experts agree that it will be more humane to give them a swift death. There are different methods that you can use to ensure that the animal will experience a painless death. However, before choosing the right approach, you should familiarize yourself first with the local laws and regulations, to ensure that you are not committing any violations.

    Should I Shoot the Squirrel?

You can shoot the squirrel, only if you can get a clean hit on its head. Even a sharpshooter may find it hard to hit a moving target. Shooting the animal on its body may cause unbearable pain on the part of the animal. Patiently wait for the animal to settle down. Avoid chasing around the animal inside the cage by pointing the gun. You should also point the barrel close to the cage trap to prevent the bullet from ricocheting. Also, do not forget to check the regulations concerning the use of firearms. Under some circumstances, the use of guns may not be allowed.

    Should I Drown the Animal?

Traditionally, people believe that drowning the animal is a humane way to kill them. The animal will be unconscious cause it is in the state of narcosis caused by CO2. However, further studies proved that this is not the case. They found out that CO2 narcosis and organic anesthesia will only occur if specific conditions are met. They realized that even if the squirrel has been exposed to a high-pressure level of CO2, it may not be enough to anesthetize the animal. Studies concluded that drowning the animals will prompt the animal to suffer from great pain and discomfort before they kick the bucket. Therefore, we do not recommend this method.

Is Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Humane way to Kill the Squirrel?

Carbon monoxide poisoning is a humane lethal method used by the animal agency and wildlife removal companies. They will place the animal inside the gas chamber. As the carbon replaces the level of oxygen, the animal will lose consciousness. Eventually, they will die while asleep; therefore, it will not cause them unnecessary pain. If you plan to do this on your own, you need to prepare some simple materials to replicate the effect in the gas chamber. You also need to protect yourself from the harmful effect of carbon monoxide. You can try to place the cage trap inside a bag. Place the opening of the bag into the pipe of the running car. The fumes will guarantee that the animal will have a peaceful demise.

Finally, you can take it to the local vet to put the animal to sleep. While this may be a humane method, it can also be expensive. Moreover, there is not a lot of veterinarians who will accept a wild animal in their clinic. There is also a chance that mass euthanasia will be performed by the local animal agency. While they may be focused on delivering this service to domesticated animals, there is still a chance that they may accept a caged squirrel.
