Do They Really Hibernate

Most people do assume that snakes hibernate due to the fact that they don't see them around that much during the winter season. This doesn't mean they hibernate as they have been discovered not to. The only difference is that they are not as active when the weather is cold as compared to the time it is hot. This is a process which most experts have referred to as brumation.

What Actually Is Brumation?

This is a situation when their metabolism is slowed down. At such point, they may be awake but don't move around as effectively as they used to. It is usually experienced when the weather is cold. During this point, they always get very lethargic. During the fall (the season between summer and winter), they are likely to go back to their den of the previous year.
